Where I start from, how far I go.

A schematic view, not a map to scale. What counts is not the distance but the driving time: Crans-Montana, just above Sierre on the map, takes nearly fifty minutes by the mountain road — while Turtmann, much further down the valley, stays in zone 1 because the road there is straight and fast.
